Andalusia highlights architectural heritage and unique geological landscapes
Andalusia offers diverse cultural and geological attractions, notably in the regions of Jaén and Granada. In Jaén, the city features significant Renaissance and medieval heritage, headlined by the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin. Designed by Andrés de Vandelvira in the 16th century, the cathedral served as an aesthetic model for colonial architecture in Latin America and houses the Santo Rostro relic.
In the province of Granada, the Hoya de Guadix serves as a UNESCO Global Geopark. The area is characterized by a badlands landscape of canyons and hoodoos formed by the erosion of an ancient lake basin. The region is also known for its troglodyte culture; following the expulsion of the Moriscos in 1489, inhabitants began carving homes directly into the soft clay hills. Today, the area contains over 2,000 cave houses that maintain stable temperatures year-round.
