Andalusia hiking routes offer literary and natural experiences

Spain offers diverse hiking and cultural experiences across the Andalusia region, ranging from literary forest paths to dramatic mountain walkways.

In the province of Huelva, the village of Santa Ana la Real features the ‘Bosque de las Letras’ (Forest of Letters) along the Risco de Levante trail. This unique initiative integrates literature into nature by placing poems and texts within the landscape. The route also includes small libraries and book exchange points where hikers can borrow or leave books while walking through cork oak, holm oak, and chestnut forests.

In Málaga, several notable hiking routes cater to different interests. The Caminito del Rey is a famous 7.7-kilometer linear path featuring walkways suspended over the Guadalhorce River. Other options include the limestone landscapes of Torcal de Antequera, the suspension bridge at El Saltillo in Axarquía, and various coastal and mountain paths that traverse rivers and forests.
