Cuenca and Andalusia announce sports funding, exams, and arts festival
In Cuenca, the Provincial Council has finalized a nearly 100,000 euro subsidy program to support local entities organizing provincial sports circuits in 2026. A total of 58 grants will be distributed to various municipalities to fund diverse activities, including mountain running, cycling, triathlon, and traditional games. Sports Deputy Abel Fresneda noted that these funds aim to ensure the quality and continuity of competitions that promote healthy habits and territorial cohesion.
Simultaneously, the Council has set the exam date for administrative assistant positions. Following a highly competitive process, 642 candidates have been admitted to compete for only seven available posts. The examinations are scheduled for October 10, 2026, and will be held across two buildings at the University of Castilla-La Mancha campus in Cuenca.
In Andalusia, the regional government has launched the ‘Sur Escena’ festival to mark the start of the performing arts season. The festival will feature 23 artistic proposals and 38 functions across the eight provincial capitals, including Granada and Huelva. The initiative aims to provide visibility to contemporary Andalusian creation and connect various cultural spaces, such as theaters and museums, with the public.
