Andalusia implements new labor rights and healthcare reforms
The Regional Government of Andalusia has introduced new labor regulations allowing public officials to share up to 100% of their working hours to care for a child with a serious illness or high dependency. Under the modified Basic Statute of Public Employees, both parents can reduce their schedules simultaneously, provided the combined reduction does not exceed the full working day. This measure applies to administration personnel across all eight provinces and central services in Seville, regardless of marital status.
Separately, the regional government is launching a phased reform of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS). Rather than a universal rollout, the administration will test organizational, regulatory, and technological changes in selected pilot hospitals and health centers. The primary objectives of this reform are to improve citizen accessibility, reduce waiting lists, and enhance coordination between primary and hospital care. To guide these changes, the government will establish an evaluation and innovation committee composed of experienced professionals to oversee specialized workgroups.
