Andalusia infrastructure: Roadwork delays in Algeciras and safety concerns in Fuentes de Andalucía
In Algeciras, the neighborhood federation FAPACSA has requested information from the City Council regarding the progress of the Acceso Sur works, specifically the Varadero roundabout. This project involves duplicating the N-350 highway to improve access to the Bay of Algeciras port. The City Council responded that the works fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and that they have no record of recent communications regarding the matter. While Mayor Landaluce has stated he will continue to monitor the project until completion, FAPACSA has criticized the local government's perceived inactivity in defending the interests of residents amidst significant delays.
Simultaneously, in Fuentes de Andalucía, the local government has called for a public assembly to address the deteriorating state of the A-407 highway. This road serves as a strategic link between the A-4 and A-92 highways, connecting the municipality with Lantejuela and Osuna. Residents have expressed concern over road safety and the road's condition, which impacts access to work, education, and healthcare. The local administration is pushing the Junta de Andalucía for a comprehensive remodeling of the road rather than temporary repairs.
