Andalusia issues listeria alert for Jupe Jerez chicharrón and morcilla in Cádiz

The Andalusian health authority activated a food‑safety alert after detecting Listeria monocytogenes in several batches of large chicharrón and morcilla produced by Carnes y Congelados Jupe Jerez S.L. The contaminated lots (6221, 6241, 6252 of chicharrón and 6244 of morcilla) were distributed to supermarkets and shops in nine municipalities of the province of Cádiz, including Cádiz, Jerez de la Frontera, Rota, Prado del Rey, Vejer de la Frontera, Chiclana, El Puerto de Santa María, La Barca de la Florida and Junta de los Ríos. The company voluntarily halted production, began a recall under official supervision, and intensified cleaning and surface testing at its facilities.

Consumers are advised not to eat the affected products and to return them to the point of purchase. Anyone who has consumed the items and shows symptoms such as fever, vomiting or diarrhoea should seek medical attention. Pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals are highlighted as high‑risk groups.

The recall is being coordinated through the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) via the rapid‑information exchange system, and officials are monitoring the withdrawal to ensure all contaminated units are removed from the market.
