Andalusia Launches €3.2 Million Animal Health Aid Program

The Andalusian Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development has opened a €3.2 million funding scheme, co‑financed by the EU’s Rural Development Fund (FEADER), the Spanish State and the Andalusian regional government. The aid targets officially recognised Animal Health Defense Groups, which must provide impartial veterinary advisory services to livestock and aquaculture farms.

Applicants must submit a programme that includes measures to prevent antimicrobial resistance and conduct at least one on‑farm visit per animal‑holding. The subsidy pays roughly €300 per advisory service, with total amounts calculated on the number of visits carried out. The initiative aims to improve sanitary conditions, animal welfare and zoonotic disease prevention while supporting the economic viability of a strategic sector in Andalusia.
