Andalusia metro and tram systems surpass 500 million passengers

The metro systems of Seville, Malaga, and Granada, along with the Trambahía in the Bay of Cádiz, have collectively surpassed 500 million passengers since their respective launches. As of August 31, statistics show a total of 500,937,468 users.

Mario Muñoz-Atanet, the Minister of Development and Mobility, stated that these figures demonstrate the systems' role as primary actors in metropolitan mobility. The Andalusian government intends to use this growth as a stimulus for modernizing services and expanding networks.

The Seville Metro remains the highest-demand system, recording over 275 million passengers since its inception in April 2009. Expansion efforts for the Seville network are ongoing, with the first three sections of the Line 3 North currently under construction and the fourth section, passing through the Ronda Histórica, undergoing bid evaluation.
