Andalusia monitors slight rise in influenza and COVID-19 cases
The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) is monitoring a slight increase in influenza and COVID-19 cases within primary care and hospitals. Despite this uptick, Antonio Sanz, the Minister of Presidency, Health, and Emergencies, stated that incidence levels remain low and do not yet indicate the start of an epidemic wave. Current rates are described as having a “low profile,” with values even lower than those recorded during the same week in previous seasons.
Authorities are closely tracking the evolution of both viruses to determine if this increase will continue in the coming weeks. Simultaneously, Andalusia has launched an immunization campaign for infants under six months old against the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), the primary cause of bronchiolitis and other respiratory infections in infants. The regional government aims to match previous coverage levels, which reached approximately 96% of newborns.
