Andalusia Parliament admits initiative to recover 2013-2014 public employee pay cuts
The Parliament of Andalusia has admitted for processing a Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) seeking the recovery of regional extra pay deductions made from public employees' salaries in 2013 and 2014. The initiative was registered in July by the Central Sindical Independiente y de Funcionarios (CSIF).
According to the CSIF, these deductions, stemming from the economic crisis, amount to approximately 750 million euros in total, averaging about 2,000 euros per worker. While the admission of the ILP does not guarantee payment, it moves the proposal to a new phase for parliamentary debate.
A 2018 agreement had previously contemplated the restitution of these funds, but the administration noted that this issue was excluded from subsequent negotiations for the 2026-2030 pact. The CSIF has stated it will mobilize resources to collect the necessary signatures once notified by the regional government to advance the proposal toward a law.
