Andalusia Parliament Funding Dispute Deepens Left‑Wing Rift

The Mesa del Parlamento of the Andalusian regional Parliament approved a new allocation of operating funds and office space for the XIII legislature. The distribution follows strict proportionality based on seats, but no minimum funding was guaranteed for each group.

The agreement, backed by the PP, Vox and Adelante Andalucía, leaves the small left‑wing group Por Andalucía, led by Antonio Maíllo, with the least‑used area of the chamber and a budget cut of €249,864 annually. Maíllo has appealed to Parliament President Jesús Aguirre for “dignified” working conditions, warning that the reduction will force staff layoffs.

The dispute revives a split that began in 2018 when the former Unidas Podemos Andalucía alliance fractured into Adelante Andalucía and Por Andalucía. Tensions over past fund management and inadequate facilities have persisted, culminating in this latest funding row.
