Blas Infante anniversary sparks political tension in Andalusia

Commemorations marking the 90th anniversary of the assassination of Blas Infante, the ‘Father of the Andalusian Fatherland’, have highlighted deep political divisions in Andalusia.

Meanwhile, the political climate has intensified as the left-wing opposition, specifically the PSOE, has criticized the regional government led by Juanma Moreno. The PSOE has accused Moreno of incorporating the ‘ideological heirs’ of those who killed Infante into his government by maintaining a political pact with Vox.

These tensions arise following the renewal of Moreno’s presidency, which was made possible through a coalition agreement involving Vox. Critics argue that Vox’s stance toward Infante’s symbolical legacy represents a significant point of friction in Andalusian politics.
