Juan Manuel Moreno sworn in as Andalusia president with Vox-backed coalition

Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla was inaugurated for a third term as president of the Junta de Andalucía after the People's Party (PP) reached a coalition agreement with the far‑right Vox. The pact, comprising roughly 150 policy measures and an estimated €1.3 billion in savings, includes Vox leader Manuel Gavira as vice‑president.

The agreement was sealed following intensive negotiations, with the PP and Vox pledging a "national priority" agenda and guaranteed votes on budgets and key legislation. Moreno’s inaugural speech emphasized continuity and stability, stating “Voy a ser fiel a mí mismo” and underscoring a “model of government that has made Andalusia a reference of stability, sustainability and entrepreneurship.”

Reactions were mixed: the left warned of a “retroceso de 40 años,” while the central government said it would maintain “the dialogue route” with the new regional executive. Local officials, such as Algeciras mayor José Ignacio Landaluce, praised the government’s attentiveness to the Campo de Gibraltar, wishing “the greatest success” to Moreno. The ceremony at the Palacio de San Telmo was low‑key, with few senior PP figures in attendance, and was marked by fashion highlights such as Manuela Villena’s Andalusian designer outfits.

The coalition’s formation secures a governing majority for the PP‑Vox alliance, shaping Andalusia’s political direction for the next four years.
