Andalusia promotes youth involvement in local health plans

The VIII Meeting of the Local Health Action Networks (RELAS) was held in Granada, focusing on the role of youth in building healthier municipalities. Organized under the theme ‘Youth and health: building wellbeing from the local level’, the event coincided with European Week of Sport.

Currently, 289 Andalusian municipalities, representing 74% of the region's population, are members of the Local Health Action Network. Of these, 210 municipalities remain active, and 93 have current Local Health Plans in effect. Granada has the highest participation with 52 member municipalities, followed by Córdoba (42), Málaga (38), Jaén (38), Huelva (35), Sevilla (29), Cádiz (28), and Almería (27).

During the inauguration, Vice-Counselor of Health and Consumption Nicolás Navarro emphasized that health involves daily physical, mental, and social wellbeing. He noted that local health discussions must address daily life, including public spaces, housing, educational centers, and community participation, highlighting youth as a critical demographic for these initiatives.
