Andalusia railway chaos prompts regional government to demand more investment

The Junta de Andalucía criticised the ongoing railway chaos that has caused repeated delays on high‑speed and regional services connecting Andalusia with Madrid. Acting tourism minister Arturo Bernal said the situation has become "normalized" and blames a lack of maintenance investment, citing recent electric failures and repeated cable thefts that disrupted service.

Bernal warned that the disruptions are harming the region’s tourism industry, inconveniencing travelers and potentially deterring visitors. He called on the central Spanish government to allocate additional funds to maintain rail infrastructure and improve road connections, arguing that reliable transport is essential for Andalusia’s competitiveness as a tourist destination.
