Andalusia’s economy gains momentum with job gains, GDP growth and rising tourism
The Andalusian labour market showed renewed dynamism in July, losing fewer than 7,000 jobs – the lowest monthly loss in recent years – and contributing to a national drop of almost 10,000 unemployed people. GDP grew 0.9% quarter‑on‑quarter and 3.1% year‑on‑year in the second quarter, outpacing both Spain and the euro‑area.
Business formation remained robust, with Experian Spain reporting 13,639 new companies created between January and July, a 6.5% rise on the same period last year. After accounting for 6,236 company dissolutions, the net increase stood at 7,403 firms.
Tourism also strengthened. The province of Cádiz welcomed 1.9 million visitors in the second quarter, a 1.6% increase over 2025, and recorded an average stay of 3.9 nights – up nearly 6% year‑on‑year. Daily spending fell 6.9% to €87.1, while overall visitor satisfaction reached 9.4 / 10.
These indicators together suggest a converging Andalusian economy that is performing above national and European averages, providing a favourable backdrop for the regional government led by President Juan Manuel Moro.
