Andalusia sees surge in high-income taxpayers

The number of high-income taxpayers in Andalusia has seen significant growth. Since 2020, the number of individuals earning more than 601,000 euros has increased by 88%, surpassing 1,500 declarants for the first time in 2024. This growth rate exceeds the national average in Spain, which saw a 69% increase in the same category.

Additionally, taxpayers earning between 150,000 and 601,000 euros have increased by 121% since 2020. This shift toward higher income brackets is contributing to a concentration of tax revenue. In Andalusia, 24% of taxpayers—those earning more than 30,000 euros—generate 78% of the total IRPF (Personal Income Tax) revenue.

Overall IRPF collection in Andalusia rose by 13.9% in 2024, reaching 17.3 billion euros. This increase is attributed to both a growing number of taxpayers and the progressive nature of the tax system, where higher income brackets result in disproportionately higher tax contributions.
