Andalusia signs agreements to connect green hydrogen to Europe
The regional government of Andalusia has signed a roadmap with Rotterdam, Netherlands, and a declaration of intent with North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, to advance green hydrogen development. These agreements aim to link Andalusian renewable hydrogen production with major European industrial and energy hubs, supporting the decarbonization of European industry.
Signed in Brussels during the European Hydrogen Week, the partnerships seek to integrate renewable energy production with transport infrastructure, technological innovation, and industrial demand. The initiative highlights Andalusia's ambition to become a large-scale producer of green hydrogen, featuring projects such as the Moeve Green Hydrogen Valley in the Campo de Gibraltar and Huelva, alongside other initiatives in Almería and Seville.
In support of the broader European strategy, the Federation of Associations of Industrial Engineers of Spain has also expressed its commitment to the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance. This alliance aims to unite industry, public authorities, and civil society across the entire renewable hydrogen value chain, including production, mobility, energy, and heating applications.
