Andalusia technology companies outpace Spanish national growth

Technology-based companies in Andalusia are growing at a rate significantly higher than the Spanish national average. According to a report by the General Secretariat of Economy, the region now hosts 14,661 establishments in the high and medium-high technology sectors.

This represents an increase of 3,747 establishments since 2018, a 34.3% growth rate that is nearly double the national average of 17.7%. Key areas of expansion include telecommunications, research and development, cinematography, and manufacturing sectors such as chemicals, medical instruments, and motor vehicle equipment.

The high-tech sector is also becoming a major driver of employment. In 2024, these industries employed 172,600 people in Andalusia, marking a 38.1% increase since 2018. This segment now accounts for 5% of total employment in the region, approaching the scale of traditional sectors like agriculture and construction.
