Andalusia to establish fishery control center in Cartaya
The Regional Government of Andalusia is developing the Andalusian Center for Control and Quality of Fishery Resources (CACCRP) in Cartaya, Huelva. Located at the Aguas del Pino Complex, the facility is designed to coordinate the inspection, monitoring, and control of fishery resources and activities along the entire Andalusian coastline.
An initial investment of approximately one million euros is being used for the first phase of the project. The center will feature a large control room equipped with video walls and screens to track vessel positioning and fishery activity. Key functions will include fishery surveillance, vessel tracking, product traceability, and sanitary control of production areas.
The project is being housed in the former Plant Health Laboratory, a building of roughly 1,115 square meters. Construction is expected to be completed by early 2027. Once operational, the CACCRP will work alongside the existing Fishery Resource Quality Control Laboratory to ensure sustainable, legal, and safe fishing practices.
