Andalusia to host 2026 European Heritage Days
The 2026 European Heritage Days will take place across Andalusia during October and November, organized by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Historical Heritage, and Sports. Under the theme ‘Heritage at risk: revive, resist, reimagine’, the initiative aims to raise awareness about environmental, social, and technological threats to cultural assets.
The program includes over 150 activities across more than 70 municipalities. In Huelva, activities include guided visits to archaeological sites, museums, and historical monuments, such as a theatricalized visit to the Tejada la Vieja site in Escacena del Campo.
In Écija, the program features guided tours of the Purísima Concepción church, known as ‘Las Gemelas’. Following extensive restoration work to adapt the 18th-century building into a cultural center, the Amigos de Écija association intends to request its removal from the Hispania Nostra Red List of endangered heritage.
