Andalusia to offer legal aid for property owners facing illegal occupation

Manuel Gavira, the Andalusian Minister of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation, and Local Administration, has announced plans to establish an agreement with the Andalusian Council of Bar Associations. The initiative aims to provide specialized legal assistance to citizens in Andalusia affected by the illegal occupation of their homes.

The measure seeks to offer immediate professional legal advice, particularly in cases requiring urgent action. This proposal follows data from the Ministry of the Interior showing that Andalusia recorded 1,909 reports of trespassing or property usurpation in 2023, making it the second-highest region in Spain for such incidents, after Catalonia.

According to Gavira, this move fulfills a government agreement between the Andalusian People's Party (PP) and Vox to strengthen property owner protections. He stated that the administration intends to support owners from the moment an illegal occupation occurs to prevent those violating property rights from gaining time.
