Andalusia to supply 44% of Mercadona's watermelon in Spain

Mercadona is increasing its watermelon supply from Andalusia this summer, with the region of Sevilla, Córdoba, and Almería providing 44% of the total watermelon sold by the supermarket chain across Spain.

The retailer expects to sell 53.6 million kilograms of watermelon from Andalusian fields this year, representing a 21% increase compared to 2025. The company plans to distribute a total of more than 122 million kilograms of Spanish watermelon throughout the entire campaign, which is expected to continue until late September.
