Andalusia transit updates: Jaén tram assistance and Cádiz tram milestone

The Junta de Andalucía has launched a tender for ‘Tranviguías’, a specialized information service designed to assist passengers during the initial operational days of the Jaén tram system. Uniformed personnel will be stationed at all ten stops to provide guidance on routes, schedules, frequencies, ticketing, and fare systems. The service will also assist with ticket machines and connections to other transport hubs, such as train and bus stations, with a specific focus on supporting passengers with reduced mobility or special needs.

Separately, the Trambahía in the Bay of Cádiz has reached its fourth anniversary of service. Since its launch in October 2022, the metropolitan railway has transported over 8.1 million users, connecting Chiclana, San Fernando, and Cádiz. The system is credited with reducing environmental impact by preventing approximately 3 million car trips and avoiding the emission of 7,577 tons of CO2. Recent schedule adjustments have also improved connectivity between the tram and Renfe Cercanías services at the Río Arillo interchange.
