Andalusian Agriculture Ministry Faces Rural Support Visits and Sector Opposition

Andalusian Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Minister Ramón Fernández‑Pacheco visited the municipality of Alhabia, meeting Mayor Luis Manuel Martínez to discuss local development projects and to stress the regional government's commitment to interior towns. He highlighted the role of the local ceramics firm Cerámica de Alhabia as a driver of rural employment and economic growth.

Agricultural organisations in Andalusia, including Asaja, COAG, UPA and Cooperativas Agro‑alimentarias de Andalucía, issued a joint statement rejecting any transfer of the agriculture portfolio to the Vox party. They called for continuity of the current management team and warned that new political arrangements could jeopardise the sector’s contribution to the regional economy, especially ahead of negotiations surrounding the formation of a new Junta government.

Juan José Laso, president of the Provincial Association of Farmers and Ranchers of Guadalajara (APAG), criticised the fines imposed on small municipalities for discharging untreated wastewater, labeling them a “revolutionary tax”. He argued that the penalties do not solve the underlying lack of water‑treatment infrastructure and urged higher‑level administrations to provide financial support and management tools to the affected towns.
