Andalusian anti‑fraud office opens investigation into Vox communications chief Álvaro Zancajo

The Andalusian Office against Fraud and Corruption (Antifraude) has admitted a complaint filed by Adelante Andalucía and opened an investigation into Álvaro Zancajo, the national communications director of the far‑right party Vox. Zancajo holds a seat on the board of the regional public broadcaster RTVA and receives a €60,000 public salary while simultaneously performing duties for Vox, which the anti‑fraud office says may breach the council’s incompatibility regulations that require exclusive dedication.

Workers at Canal Sur praised the move, calling Zancajo “the creature” whose conduct they consider illegal and urging that the investigation “finally put a hand on” him. Vox representatives, including regional spokesperson Manuel Gavira, maintain that Zancajo fulfills all his obligations. The case highlights tensions over alleged misuse of public positions for partisan work within Andalusia’s public media.

The investigation focuses on whether Zancajo’s dual roles constitute a conflict of interest under RTVA’s internal rules, which forbid any external political or professional activity while serving on the board.
