Andalusian Association of Family Business proposes new regional law
The Andalusian Association of Family Business celebrated its 25th anniversary in Seville, marking the occasion by announcing a proposal for a new law to support and promote family-owned companies in the region.
Juan Moya, president of the association, stated that the proposed legislation aims to ensure business continuity, facilitate generational succession, and encourage professionalization, innovation, and sustainability. He emphasized that the law should be developed through consensus rather than as a means of privilege.
Rocío Blanco, the regional Minister of Employment, Business, and Self-Employment, expressed the Andalusian government's willingness to prepare a Family Business Law. She highlighted the critical role of these companies, noting that they represent approximately 92% of the regional productive fabric and account for 79% of employment. Blanco also identified significant challenges facing these businesses, including high taxation, elevated Social Security costs, and the need for better management professionalization.
