Andalusia asks to postpone fiscal financing council meeting to September
Carolina España, vice‑president and finance minister of the Andalusian regional government, sent a letter to Spain’s finance minister Arcadi España asking that the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy (CPFF) scheduled for this Wednesday be delayed until at least September. The request, signed by Andalusia and twelve other autonomous communities, cites a lack of transparency, insufficient time to analyse the proposal and budgetary uncertainty.
The Andalusian government argues that the new autonomous financing model stems from a pact between the central government and the Catalan party Esquerra Republicana, and that it breaches constitutional principles of equality. It warns the model would shape the financing of health, education and long‑term dependency services for decades.
Critics say the proposal, which would increase community resources by about €21 billion and raise the share of IRPF and VAT, lacks broad political consensus and was designed to secure parliamentary stability for the Sánchez government.
