Andalusian Health Service to undergo major structural reform
Antonio Sanz, the Andalusian Minister of Health, Presidency, and Emergencies, has initiated a major restructuring of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS). During a meeting with SAS management at the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío in Seville, Sanz outlined plans for a comprehensive reform aimed at improving public health accessibility, reducing response times, and enhancing coordination between primary care and hospitals.
A key component of this initiative is the proposed creation of the Committee for Evaluation, Innovation, and Operative Reform of the Public Health System. This body is intended to include experts, professional associations, worker representatives, and patients to ensure a collaborative transformation process.
The reform will also focus on legislative and technological updates. This includes the introduction of a new Law of Guarantee of the Andalusian Health System to modernize the regional regulatory framework. Additionally, the SAS is currently managing over 400 digital projects to support clinical and administrative activities.
