Andalusian Parliament dismisses Cámara de Cuentas counselor
Ana Mestre, President of the Andalusian Parliament, has officially declared the dismissal of Antonio Manuel López Hernández from his position as a counselor of the Cámara de Cuentas de Andalucía. The dismissal, effective October 13, 2026, is based on a finding of “supervening incompatibility” for the role.
The decision follows an agreement by the Plenary of the Cámara de Cuentas, which identified several situations that could justify such a removal. López, who was originally re-elected to the position in 2021 following a proposal from the Socialist Group, was removed after an investigation into his activities outside the institution.
López has announced his intention to appeal the decision before the High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA). He argues that the dismissal violates legal guarantees of immovability intended to protect the independence of the body from political interference. He further characterized the move as a “possible overstepping of competence of tremendous gravity,” noting that the decision was signed by the President of the Parliament rather than through a broader institutional consideration.
