Andalusian Parliament rejects breast cancer screening investigation
The Parliament of Andalusia has rejected a proposal to create an investigative commission regarding the management of the breast cancer early detection system. The rejection was achieved through the combined votes of the PP and Vox parties.
The initiative was proposed by opposition groups PSOE, Adelante Andalucía, and Por Andalucía. The proposal sought to investigate a crisis in the Andalusian Health System's screening program, which occurred one year prior. Opposition members highlighted that at least 2,317 women were not notified of suspected cancer diagnoses.
Opposition spokespersons criticized the regional government for failing to provide a coherent explanation for the errors, noting that the mismanagement has had devastating consequences for affected women and their families. They argued that an investigation is necessary to understand the failures and prevent future occurrences.
