Juanma Moreno unveils Andalusian government coalition with Vox

President Juanma Moreno presented a new governing board for the Andalusian autonomous community, confirming a coalition with the far‑right Vox party. The cabinet retains only two technical appointees from the previous administration and adds three vice‑presidencies: Antonio Sanz (first vice‑president and health minister), Carolina España (economy and finance) and Manuel Gavira (second vice‑president, overseeing tourism, local administration and justice).

The arrangement aims to keep Vox influence limited while granting it a vice‑presidential slot, but analysts question whether Gavira can be easily controlled. Vox has already secured additional institutional posts, including a parliamentary vice‑presidency and a senator, and seeks broader representation in bodies such as the regional Ombudsman and the public broadcaster. Critics point to recent controversies, such as the boycott of a tribute to Blas Infante, and to the health‑system reforms still pending under the new administration. Moreno’s strategy is to balance continuity with the demands of his right‑wing partner, hoping to manage policy priorities such as tax cuts, housing, and the overhaul of the regional health service (SAS).
