Andalusian PSOE demands investigation into summer forest fires

The Andalusian PSOE is calling for the creation of an investigative commission in the regional parliament to examine the causes of major forest fires recorded this summer. Josele Aguilar, the PSOE general secretary for Malaga, has urged the People's Party (PP) to stop blocking the initiative, which aims to provide transparency regarding significant fires in Los Gallardos and Niebla.

Aguilar emphasized that the commission is necessary to understand what occurred and prevent future recurrences, specifically noting the severity of the Los Gallardos fire, which resulted in fifteen deaths. While Antonio Sanz, the first vice president of the Junta de Andalucía, is scheduled to appear before parliament to report on summer fires, earthquakes in Granada, and anti-narcotics efforts, the opposition considers this measure insufficient without a formal investigation.
