Andalusian unions to protest dependency system delays

Labor unions CCOO and UGT have called for mobilizations across all provinces in Andalusia on October 1, coinciding with Senior Citizens' Day. The protests aim to demand urgent improvements to the dependency system and pensions, citing deficient management by the Andalusian regional government.

Union leaders Alfonso Vidán and José Luis García Chaparro highlighted critical delays in processing benefits, noting that resolution times have reached 432 days, significantly exceeding legal limits. They reported that in August alone, 440 people in Andalusia passed away while waiting for benefits to which they were legally entitled.

The unions criticized the regional executive for failing to budget for additional evaluators, administrative staff, or social workers, maintaining operational parameters unchanged for five years. Furthermore, CCOO warned of a shortage in residential care, stating that 2,630 additional places are required to eliminate current waiting lists.
