Andalusian universities host agro‑food master and chemical‑engineering sustainability events

The University of Córdoba, together with the University of Cádiz, concluded the 15th Technical Day of the Interuniversity Master in Agroalimentación. The event highlighted rapid enrollment growth – 28 students at Cádiz and 20 at Córdoba – including several slots for Spanish‑speaking foreign students. Coordinators emphasized the programme’s strong industry links, practical training components and an ongoing curriculum revision that will extend the master’s offering for another five years.

At the University of Almería, the 13th Chemical Engineering Project Competition brought secondary‑school students together to present innovative, sustainability‑focused projects. Judges praised work on hydrogen generation, bio‑plastics from starch, micro‑algae bio‑filters and circular‑economy solutions. Awards were given for the best overall project and for contributions by female students. The competition was supported by several university vice‑rectorates and aimed to bridge secondary education with university research.

Both events underscore the region’s drive to link academic training with industry‑driven research and to promote sustainable development in the agri‑food and chemical sectors.
