Andalusian wineries highlight historical heritage through new tourism initiatives

Historical wineries in Andalusia are introducing unique cultural experiences to preserve and showcase their heritage.

In Villanueva del Ariscal, Sevilla, Bodegas Góngora—one of the oldest active wineries in Spain—is expanding its legacy. The estate, known as Hacienda de Pata de Hierro, is preparing to launch Casa Góngora, an exclusive hotel under the Relais & Châteaux brand. The site features a 17-meter wood press that has operated continuously since 1574 and is recognized as a Cultural Interest Asset.

In Montilla, Córdoba, Bodegas Alvear is launching a theatrical wine tour scheduled for September 2026 to coincide with the Montilla Harvest Festival. The experience uses live performances to bring the history of the winery and its founders, Diego de Alvear y Ponce de León and his children, to life for visitors.
