Andalusian Youth Choir to Record First Album This Summer

The Joven Coro de Andalucía, a youth choir supported by the Andalusian Ministry of Culture, will record its first disc during its annual meeting in Seville from 26 August to 5 September. Under the direction of Marco Antonio García de Paz, the ensemble will work intensively with a teaching team that includes Esmeralda Espinosa, Víctor Cruz, Jorge Enrique García Ortega, Óscar Camacho and Eduardo Moreno.

The repertoire will feature 20th‑century choral works such as Frank Martin’s *Messe pour double chœur a cappella*, Francis Poulenc’s *Quatre motets pour un temps de pénitence*, Olivier Messiaen’s *O sacrum convivium* and Gustav Mahler’s *Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen* (arranged by Clytus Gottwald). Culture minister Patricia del Pozo praised the choir as “the best representatives of Andalusian talent” and highlighted its role in renewing the professional music pool.

A concert will close the residency on 2 September at the Teatro Central in Seville, with free entry by invitation and reservations opening on 26 August via the Andalusian Cultural Institutions ticket platform. A new audition call for the program is also planned later in the year.
