Andalusia's electoral weight in upcoming Spanish elections
Following Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's announcement to dissolve the government and call for general elections on November 29, Andalusia's demographic and electoral weight remains a central factor in Spanish politics.
Under the current electoral system, Andalusia's eight constituencies will elect 60 deputies to the 350-seat Congress, representing 17.14% of the total. This is one fewer deputy than in 2023, as the province of Cádiz will reduce its representation from nine to eight seats.
Historically, the region has been a critical electoral market for national parties. While the former Andalusian Party (PA) once sought to elevate the region's political relevance to that of the Basque Country or Catalonia, national parties continue to view Andalusia as an essential territory due to its quantitative influence on forming government majorities.
