Andalusia's Junta Denies All New Private Bachillerato Seats

The Junta de Andalucía has rejected every request for new concerted (public‑private) high‑school (Bachillerato) places for the 2026‑2027 school year. The refusal applies to private centres across the region, including four schools in Almería, seven in Cádiz, ten in Córdoba, eleven in Granada, two in Huelva, three in Jaén, six in Málaga and nineteen in Sevilla province, among others.

The decision repeats a pattern from the previous year and follows the coalition agreement between the People's Party and Vox, which stipulates that expansion of concerted Bachillerato will be postponed until the 2027‑2028 academic year, with priority given to special education and vocational training. While no new Bachillerato seats were granted, the education ministry approved several concerted places for Formación Profesional programmes, such as vehicle maintenance in Almería and integration social in Córdoba.

The move affects thousands of prospective students in Andalusia’s private secondary schools and signals a shift in regional education policy toward vocational pathways before expanding high‑school capacity.
