Andaman and Nicobar Command Reviews Operational Readiness in Southern Islands

Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, Commander‑in‑Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command, visited the Southern Group of islands on July 25, 2026 to assess tri‑service operational preparedness. He received briefings on the readiness of army, navy and air force units deployed across the islands and inspected ongoing strategic infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing logistics, surveillance and sustained operations in the Indian Ocean region. The Vice Admiral highlighted the importance of continuous infrastructure modernization and jointness among the three services as a force multiplier for addressing both conventional and emerging maritime security challenges.

The review reaffirmed the command’s focus on maintaining a high state of operational readiness, strengthening joint integration, and securing India’s maritime interests along critical sea lanes of communication in the eastern Indian Ocean.
