Argentina faces snow‑related road cautions and border pass restrictions

Provincial road authorities in Argentina reported that numerous routes across San Juan, La Rioja, Catamarca, Mendoza, San Luis, and other provinces remain open but require caution due to ongoing work, low speeds, and the risk of drifting material.

The Santa Cruz provincial road agency warned of heavy snowfall, possible ice formation and low visibility along Route 40, urging drivers to use chains and check route conditions before traveling.

In Córdoba, the provincial police kept the E‑34 “Camino de las Altas Cumbres” completely closed because snow and ice persisted on high‑altitude sections, despite salting efforts, and advised motorists to stay away until conditions improve.

Cross‑border passes to Chile, including Pino Hachado, Cardenal Samoré and others, were operating under summer schedules but with restrictions: drivers must use chains, travel with caution, and be aware of possible ice on the approaches.
