Anders Kristensen pushes flood‑stop invention despite lack of sales

Seventy‑five‑year‑old Danish carpenter Anders Kristensen from Bedsted in the Thy region invented a flood‑stop system that uses large panels, up to 165 cm long, which can be raised from a horizontal to a vertical position to block rising water. The prototype was ready last year and the patent secured.

Kristensen has contacted 52 municipalities, mayors and more than 100 homeowner associations; only eight municipalities replied, while the rest gave automated responses. No sales have materialised yet. He is now developing a smaller, affordable version about 60 cm wide that can resist a 60 cm water rise for private basements, creating an animation of the model and planning to approach insurers and contractors to bring the product to market.
