Anderson homicide suspect arrested after Hamilton County traffic stop

A suspect has been arrested following a traffic stop in Hamilton County in connection with a fatal shooting in Anderson. The arrest follows the death of 31-year-old Tomerious Smoots, who was found with a gunshot wound to the chest in the 1600 block of Madison Avenue early Sunday morning.

Anderson Police Department officials stated that Fishers police assisted in pulling over the suspect's vehicle. The Madison County Prosecutor’s Office is currently reviewing the case to determine criminal charges. The suspect is being held on a 72-hour hold in the Madison County jail.
