Andes Salud to host inaugural Low-Performance Olympics in Chile
Andes Salud is launching the world’s first ‘Low-Performance Olympics’ to promote cardiovascular health and combat sedentary lifestyles. The initiative aims to dismantle the myth that physical activity requires high-level athletic performance, focusing instead on inclusivity and the importance of movement for daily well-being.
Scheduled for August 29, the free community event will take place simultaneously in five Chilean cities: Calama, Talca, Chillán, Concepción, and Puerto Montt. Participants over the age of 20 can engage in recreational activities such as 10-meter sprints, 10-meter hurdles, and short jumps.
The event is part of Heart Month and responds to health concerns regarding physical inactivity. According to the Ministry of Health, up to 80% of premature cardiovascular deaths could be prevented through lifestyle changes and proper risk factor management.
