Andhra couple arrested in Andaman Islands for 2022 murder

Bheemunipatnam police have arrested a couple in connection with a 2022 murder case after locating them in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The accused, identified as Vadhamodula Nukaraju and Vanka Jyothi, had allegedly fled to Swaraj Dweep using forged Aadhaar cards and aliases to evade authorities.

The investigation revealed that the pair was wanted for the murder of Jyothi’s husband, Vanka Paidi Raju. Police allege that Nukaraju orchestrated the crime by instructing Jyothi to administer tablets to the victim to induce sleep, after which the victim was allegedly strangled with a wire. Following their arrest on October 9, the suspects were produced before a court in Port Blair and placed under transit remand to be returned to Vizag.
