Andhra Pradesh Assembly begins monsoon session amid YSRCP boycott plans

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly monsoon session has commenced for a scheduled four-day period. Key agenda items include discussions on DSC-2025 teacher recruitment, Backward Classes (BC) reservations in local bodies, and alleged irregularities in Group-1 recruitment.

The YSRCP party is expected to boycott the Assembly proceedings, citing the lack of formal Leader of Opposition status. While YSRCP MLAs may stay away, the party intends to utilize its MLCs in the Legislative Council and continue public protests. This boycott presents a strategic dilemma for YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, as staying away limits the party's ability to directly question ministers in the House, despite the government's invitation to debate issues like the DSC controversy.

Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh is scheduled to make a statement regarding DSC-2025. Other anticipated legislative activities include the introduction of bills related to the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Act-2019 and amendments to the Municipalities Act. The session will also address irrigation, drinking water supply, and the agricultural impact of El Niño.
