Andhra Pradesh CM announces pay revision and DA release

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced several measures to resolve long-standing demands from government employees and teachers. Following meetings with various service associations, the government has agreed to establish the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC).

Key financial decisions include the release of two pending Dearness Allowance (DA) installments, due from July 1, 2024, and January 1, 2025, which will be disbursed starting October 1, 2026. Additionally, the government will credit 2022 surrender leave dues before the Sankranti festival and provide an additional surrender leave to police personnel during the Dasara festival.

For pensioners, the Chief Minister announced the reinstatement of an additional quantum of pension starting January 2027. This includes a 10 per cent increase for those over 70 years old and 15 per cent for those over 75. The government also committed to streamlining the Employees’ Health Scheme (EHS) by ensuring monthly payments to the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust. These decisions are expected to result in an additional annual expenditure of approximately Rs. 2,880 crore.

Separately, during Teachers’ Day celebrations, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for educational reforms to prepare students for technological advancements like artificial intelligence, aiming for 100 per cent literacy in the state by 2027.
