Andhra Pradesh couple jumps into Godavari River after leaving child on bridge

A couple in Andhra Pradesh reportedly jumped into the Godavari River on the night of August 25, 2026, after leaving their three-year-old son alone on a bridge. The parents, identified as 29-year-old Dodda Sai and 28-year-old Dodda Sirisha, arrived at the location on a scooter at approximately 10 pm.

Local police discovered the child crying on the bridge and immediately took him into protective care. Authorities recovered the couple's scooter at the scene and have launched an extensive search operation in the river using boats and diving equipment to locate the pair.

The couple, who were residents of the nearby town of Bhimavaram, left the child behind before leaping into the water. While a formal case has been registered, the motivations behind their actions remain unclear. Police are currently interviewing family members and acquaintances to understand the circumstances that led to the incident.
