Andhra Pradesh expands religious tourism with festivals and new circuits
Andhra Pradesh is expanding its religious and cultural tourism through major festivals and new curated travel routes. At Manginapudi Beach in Machilipatnam, a 10-day Maha Ganapati celebration will feature a 63-foot idol. The event includes replicas of prominent temples such as Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and Vijayawada Kanaka Durga, alongside daily spiritual programs and cultural performances.
To support regional development, a ₹100 crore tourism village has been proposed under the Swadesh Darshan scheme. Future projects for the 750-acre identified area include golf courses, studios, resorts, and adventure sports like paragliding and jet-speed boating.
In preparation for the Godavari Pushkarams 2027, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department has unveiled seven themed circuits to explore the Godavari region. These routes include the ‘Sacred Godavari’ circuit, the ‘Pancharama Kshetras’ circuit, and the ‘Shaktipeethas and Devi Kshetras’ circuit. Other routes focus on Vaishnava traditions, heritage temples, and river tourism, connecting various ancient temples and historical landmarks across the delta.
