Andhra Pradesh Governor nominates two TDP leaders as MLCs

Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer has nominated two leaders from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to the state's Legislative Council. The nominees are Varla Ramayya, representing the SC community, and Dalavai Ramadevi, from the BC Vaddera community.

The nominations fill two vacancies created by the expiration of terms for former MLCs Pandula Ravindra Babu and M Zakia Khanam in July 2026. The new members will serve a six-year term.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that the selection prioritized social justice. He noted that the appointment of Dalavai Ramadevi marks the first time a member of the Vaddera community has been granted an MLC position, describing her as a grassroots party worker.
